Flexibility and compact footprints suit production needs and factory floorspace.

Europlacer has installed a second high-speed line comprising iineo+ and xpii+ pick & place machines with a Heller reflow oven at SafeLine in Tyresö, Sweden. It crowns a package of upgrades to increase capacity and throughput to meet rising demand for the company’s elevator safety systems across Scandinavia and Europe.

SafeLine produces high-end electronics for the lift industry, such as emergency telephones, floor displays, announcers, monitoring devices and controllers at its Tyresö factory, using two surface-mount production lines. The company upgraded its primary line two years ago, installing its first iineo+ and xpii+ placement platforms. The machines’ strong performance eased the latest decision to invest in another twin-turret iineo+ II and xpii+ II with a Heller oven downstream to modernise the second line as sales of SafeLine equipment has continued to grow.

Mattias Rosenström, Deputy COO and Head of Department for circuit-board production at SafeLine, said, “The iineo+ and xpii+ are incredibly flexible, with functionality that easily meets our needs, and the whole design concept and footprint fits our factory very well. We have relied on Europlacer equipment for over 10 years now and have experienced class-leading performance with great reliability, supported both directly and through Cynergy, Europlacer’s Scandinavian distributor.”

Each featuring twin turrets, both Europlacer platforms can place at rates up to 30,000 cph and give the flexibility to handle the full range of components at each head and nozzle position. Standard features on the iineo+ include 264 feeders and support for internal matrix trays. Options including tray sequencers, dispensers, cameras, and software upgrades such as NPI and traceability, extend flexibility to meet owners’ individual requirements.

The new line is now in action at Tyresö, headed by a Speedprint 710 screen printer. Cynergy and Europlacer collaborated with SafeLine to configure the new line, based on both companies’ broad SMT assembly expertise, direct experience of SafeLine’s existing line, and a specific remit to match that line to meet future demands. The result is an efficient, balanced state-of-the-art production facility. James Whitehouse, CEO of Cynergy Group, commented, “The mutual understanding we have built with Mattias and SafeLine let us put together a well optimised full-line solution to fulfil current and future assembly needs.”
