Dorset CEM uses new iineo+ in national effort against pandemic

A new Europlacer customer located less than 20 miles from our UK headquarters has deployed its new iineo+ pick & place machine to build parts for medical equipment used on the front line in the fight against coronavirus.
Contract manufacturer Prototype Electronics Ltd (PEL), based in the village of Piddlehinton in Dorset, took delivery of its first iineo+ placement machine last August. Having previously used a number of older placement machines from another supplier, the installation of the new iineo+ took the manufacturer’s production throughput to a whole new level overnight.
With the business recently declared part of the Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) in the supply chain for Oxford Nanopore Technologies, PEL is manufacturing boards for a genome sequencing product. In addition, batches of boards are being assembled for portable patient health monitors that are used by ambulance crews and emergency responders across the country.
As well as greater throughput, the new iineo+ allows PEL to address the challenging range of components used in these complex boards.
